At worst, out current world view is largely anchored in a materialistic model which asserts that life is essentially random and arbitrary, the result of chance. This has contributed to a global crisis in consciousness.

Positively, it is pushing us to re-examine our conditioned assumptions and thereby realize an understanding of existence that, in asking who we are and why we are here, recognizes an intrinsic purpose to our existence based on a holistic appreciation of life. Among other things, our investigations reveal that not only are we destined to be intentional, but life itself is conscious and intentional.

In this regard, the intrinsic purpose for our existence can be described as evolutionary, not simply as a biological species, but as souls incarnate, spiritual beings having human experiences. The deeper purpose for our existence yet directly linked to cultivating deep wisdom and mastery so that we can learn to be responsible co-creators in a universe that can be understood as both intrinsically conscious multi-dimensional.

To support this understanding, In the show, Tyhson and I will be exploring the links between astrology, astronomy, cosmology, psychology, philosophy, sociology, physics, metaphysics, biology, history, archeology, spirituality and religion, and other disciplines, as well. All too often, these disciplines are both approached and thereby interpreted as separate. This linear approach has also contributed to various disciplines assuming greater authority over others. So, our goal is to provide both factual knowledge and intuitive insights that will reveal the intrinsic links and connections between the above fields of human endeavour to understand who and how we are and why we are here under a comprehensive model of understanding that is actually ancient but which we today refer to as holism.

Michael discusses the bases of the Chinese calendar based on the lunar cycle and compares it to Western astrology based on the earth’s cycle.

Ep.3, Welcome The Big Picture Revealed Show

In this episode, we make the move to draw the line and present a challenge…. That astrology works, is as revolutionary a fact to modern civilization, as was that of Copernicus’ proof that the Sun is at the center of the solar system. It is an ironic statement because astrology has been around for millennia.

Yet, according to modern mainstream science, it does not work because it should not work from the standpoint of their paradigm, This position is not scientific, it is dogmatic. That astrology works, and it most certainly does, challenges the core tenets of the scientific paradigm as absolute. It does not dismiss the practice of scientific methods to render useful facts and make meaningful contributions to many industries and human civilization in general. What it does do, however, is assert that science does not actually have the actual, authentic authority to assume a position of finality regarding truth. It can only perpetuate this position by dismissal of evidence which is contrary to the very pursuit of truth that it claims to be committed to, without bias or prejudice.

Notions that it is just a question of time before science proves this or that, is a delay tactic that will not soon disprove that astrology works. A more scientific approach would be to study astrology according to its principles and rules and to then test it by seeing if it accurately describes people in terms of personality, temperament, proclivity strengths and challenges. and provides insights about key turning points a person’s life. The results will prove that it can do just that and in so doing, it challenges the materialistic foundations of existence that it asserts are absolute.

Ep.4, Welcome The Big Picture Revealed Show: The Full Moon & Solar Eclipse

In recognition of the Full Moon which is the culmination of the Solar Eclipse that occurred on February 15, 2018, this episode will focus on the Moon and its roles in Astrology. The Earth/Moon relationship has been in existence from the beginning. We have and all life on our planet has evolved in the context of this relationship. It has been strongly argued that without the Moon there would not be life on our planet. In this respect, the Moon plays a vital role. In fact, it is quite possibly true, therefore, that other planets with sentient beings living on them, or at least upon which they evolved as a species, had to occur in the context of at least one Moon orbiting it.

Since the Moon naturally waxes and wanes in its orbit because it does not reflect its own light, which is an important factor that renders it a Moon as opposed to a star or a planet, and since this Lunation Cycle is so fundamental to Astrology and to our measurements of time, then it may be argued that any other sentient species in the universe has developed a system of astrology.

The Moon also represents archetypal themes linked to the feminine. In this respect, we will bring the focus home. By way of a close analysis of the Moon, accurate insights can be gleaned regarding one’s relationship with their mother, what her personality is like, how nurturing she was, or not, whether or not she was present or absent, and themes of emotional temperament, core psychological complexes and more…

Ep.5, Welcome The Big Picture Revealed Show:Synchronicity

The focus of this show is Synchronicity a word that carries profound implication. Coined by the famous Psychologist, Carl G. Jung, it was ‘invented’ to summarize the ancient esoteric principles of As Above, So Below and As Within, So Without. These phrases have also been described as having direct relationship with The Law of Correspondences.

From an ancient perspective, the Law of Correspondences finds expression among the 7 Hermetic Principles which include the following: 1. Mind 2. Correspondence 3. Vibration 4. Polarity 5. Rhythm 6. Cause & Effect 7. Gender In modern times, the Law of Correspondences finds expression in the principles of the Law-of-Attraction. It basically celebrates that we not only have consciousness, but that we also live in and are expressions of consciousness, or that the entire universe and all the dimensions of the universe, as well, are expressions of the Divine Mind, which can essentially be understood as consciousness. Furthermore, we as expressions of consciousness therefore have the power and the destiny to participate in creation as conscious co-creators.

With regard to the Law of Attraction, the 4 basic steps to engage one’s powers are clarity of desire or intention, focus, affirmation and visualization as though the desire result is already manifest now. When we weave in the science of astrology, what we discover is that Synchronicity, like the Law of Attraction is a constant. The only think anomalous about it is that it is recognized only occasionally, anomalously. What is important to understand about Synchronicity, in this regard, is that it will manifest as both reflections of our core nature as revealed by archetypal patterns and according to factors linked to the flow of time and outer reality. While all the outer circumstantial realities cannot be measured by astrology, those key events and manifestations, which are, as mentioned, spikes in the graph of an otherwise constant flow of existence, which are in turn key features of ‘the plan’ and therefore linked to personal and collective evolution, can be measured.

Ep.10, Welcome The Big Picture Revealed Show:Astrology and Destiny, Prediction and Predetermination

Michael OÇonnor, the resident Holistic Astrologer for The Extraordinary Healing-Arts Academy is interviewed by Tyhson Banighen about the prospect of being able to make predictions about the future is a cornerstone of science in its very inception. Observation and recognition of a pattern that repeats is the basic formula. It is this practice that also gives rise to astrology itself. Because astrology focuses upon the cycles of the planets, which were regarded as veritable gods in ancient times, the weave of observation, which included taking note and keeping records, combined with awe and reverence for the grandeur and magnificence of the celestial realm revealed by the night sky, astrology emerged as the first religion and the first science combined. In time, this matured to become spiritual science or scientific spirituality. Thus, the ancient Hermetic Principle: As Above, So Below emerged as a deeply significant phrase and remains as such to this day. Unfortunately, the paradigm of modern science has come to the conviction that astrology does not work and it is regarded, at best, as pseudoscience, meaning ‘below, beneath or less than’ science. Ironically, the notion of prediction is often coupled with convictions that the future is not pre-determined.

The assumption, here, is that the mainstream scientific attitude is that astrologers believe that the future is absolutely pre-determined. While it is true that traditional astrology has sought to exercise predictive techniques so as to maximize probability and minimize possibility, thus, negatively speaking, rendering predictions that may well produce auto-suggestive ideas into the beliefs and perceptions of the person seeking guidance, Western Astrology has evolved and is no longer practiced this way. It is true that astrologers who lean strongly on the traditional model may still aim for this ability, to predict the future with a high level of accuracy, modern astrology focuses more fully on providing knowledge and insight that supports free will based on a co-creative process. This traditional approach remains strong, especially among Vedic Astrologers. What is ironic, even hypocritical, is that modern science has always and continues to endeavor also to use science to make predictions that achieve a high level of accuracy.

Thus, modern science shares more in common with traditional astrology than it does with modern astrology. Modern astrology can be understood to align more closely with the Human Potential Movement because it celebrates and encourages the exercise of free will and recognizes that life and living is invariably a co-creative process. The practice of Modern Astrology represents a balance between traditional techniques which require linear, logical methods, specifically aligned with timing, combined with the subtle skill of awakening a person to their true nature and deeper destiny. This can be understood as the art of communication-based on a keen appreciation of a person’s psychological complexities, material responsibilities, and spiritual aspirations to actualize their full potential and to thereby genuinely evolve as a soul.

The popular understanding that we are in the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius is affirmed by most Western Astrologers. All the indications and synchronicities are clear for all to see and experience. However, to recognize these, one must first understand what the outer expressions of it are. So, I will provide a deeper understanding of Aquarius itself as the 11^th sign of the Zodiac and from a holistic perspective.

Further, the term ‘Age’ begs the question. What is an Age from the standpoint of Astrology and how long does it last? The answer is to be found in a deeper understanding of larger cosmological cycles. Yet, in Aquarian fashion, there is at least strong evidence to support that the processional processes that are a core feature of an Age are actually due to a cycle that our own planet experiences. However, there is one other competing theory in particular that is based on the conviction that the cycle of the Ages, which is 1/12^th of a larger cycle called the Precession of the Equinoxes is due to the consideration that our sun is actually in a binary system, which means that there is another sun to which our sun is intimately tied in a cyclic process.

The other big question and one which continues to be debated is, given that we are in the dawning of the age when was or is the exact crack of dawn? The answers to these questions provide the basis for an exciting journey into astrology, astronomy, and cosmology. As well, this debate serves to highlight some of the major arguments between proponents of each of the 3 Zodiacs. Yes, there are 3 Zodiacs linked to the 12 Signs or constellations. Episode 13:Paradigms, Perception and Subjectivity

This final episode serves to summarize the main themes covered in the first 11 episodes. Yet, it also will provide its own emphasis on the principle of subjectivity. What is important about subjectivity is that it suggests that the notion of objectivity can only occur by degree. In other words, the long-sought goal of pure objectivity in science has ever and will ever remain elusive because it is unattainable. As the famous saying goes, ‘you cannot remove the observer from the experiment’. Great measures can be taken to reduce subjective projections of perception, belief, and interpretation, but not absolutely. As well, the very parameters of any method of the experiment itself contain within it its own form of limitation or bias, reflective of the paradigm by which it was created.

What this suggests is that existence and our interpretations of it are ultimately subjective. Acknowledgment of this is the key to keeping an open mind, recognizing the natural tendency to make assumptions and to become more humble, accepting of other interpretations and, thereby, more willing to accept other perspectives. In turn, this supports us to be more cooperative, patient and respectful and diplomatic. In effect, with this acknowledgment of the ultimate subjectivity of existence and of our experiences of it, we can come to understand and appreciate what may be understood as ‘selective perception’. Doing so serves to reduce staunch convictions, black and white conclusions, narrow-mindedness, righteousness, arrogance, fanaticism and bigotry and so on…

Appreciating our subjectivity then opens the way to a deeper exploration of it. If we assume that our perceptions are objective, then we might overlook the valuable opportunity and even the very prospect of further exploring our own subjectivity. Woven within this understanding is a deeper appreciation also of our respective individuality. Thus, we can each accept our own and other people’s subjectivity which invariably produces a slant on all perceptions and, in doing so, we can actually begin to exercise a genuine and more expanded state of objectivity; so the principle comes full circle. In other words, when we acknowledge our own subjective beliefs, perceptions, and interpretations, then the very acknowledgement of the same in others and reciprocated by all, actually serves to maximize our ability to see things more clearly ‘as they are’, because we recognize that we are invariably perceiving and interpreting the world ‘as we are’, as we are invariably conditioned to do so and which can be accurately described as ‘subject to our paradigm’.
